Welcome to our November Newsletter!

This month we would like to highlight the ways in which you can participate in Probably42. The main ways that we tend to focus on in our newsletters are participation in either our online or face-to-face meetings. However, this month we were delighted when one of our members who doesn’t participate in the meetings, saw fit to respond to our topic of the month by inputting their well-considered thoughts on the topic. As a result, we have included a number of their points in our meeting output and responded to them personally on the topic. We’d like to encourage this as another way of participating. So, if you’d like to input something all you have to do is respond to this email. The other way of participating is to post in our Discussion forums but we recognise everyone is not comfortable doing this. You just have to look down the Discussion Topics page to see the numbers viewing each topic as opposed to replying. Incidentally this is quite a good way of seeing what topics people are most interested in.

During next month we are going to carry out our periodic update. We look at the last 6 months outputs and decide which should result in enhancement of the ideas in our ‘Considered Proposals’ and which specific ideas should also be highlighted in our Manifesto of Ideas. So if you have any ideas that you would like to see incorporated do let us know.

Once we’ve done that, we are hoping to particularly focus on the ideas about improving our democratic system and try and get attention on them, as we have recently managed to do with our Artificial Intelligence outputs.

Output of October Discussion

Our discussion for October was on ‘Is there a need for a new political party? If so what should its attributes be?’. You can see the output at Is there a need for a new political party?.

Government Information that may interest you

This month we highlight three more examples of information on Parliament activity and outputs which may interest you:

Forthcoming Discussion

Our discussion for December is ‘Sleaze, Lobbying, Second jobs and APPGs’. You can see the proposed agenda at: Topic for December 2021 - Sleaze, Lobbying, Second Jobs & APPGs As ever, do send any thoughts on this topic as input to the meeting, or if you would like to attend the meeting just reply to this email and we’ll send you details.

Why not join a Group?

If you’d like to join one of the Probably42 discussion groups held via videoconferencing, just email in response to this newsletter and we’ll send you more details. We very much want a diversity of viewpoints, so you can be sure your views will be welcomed. Remember it’s about relaxed discussion and having an enjoyable time, with hopefully some useful ideas identified.

We also want to encourage face-to-face real world discussion groups, as feeders into the main online discussions. If you’d like to find out more about the one in Berkshire, or if you’d like to see one start in your area, just email in response to this newsletter and we’ll send you details.

Feedback

We always welcome any feedback, thoughts, ideas or questions about Probably42. Simply reply to this newsletter and you’ll receive a personal reply.

All the best

Tony
