Welcome to our June/July Newsletter!

It’s been quite a month, hence the slight delay in this newsletter.

We have been interacting with both the APPG (All Party Parliamentary Group) for Artificial Intelligence and also the AI Council. We have input some of our more far-reaching AI suggestions to the APPG. We also produced an input paper to the AI Council’s AI Roadmap, because we felt it neglected some important areas. This has been well received and we have had confirmation it has been distributed to members of the AI Council. We also responded to the consultation on the AI Roadmap run by the Turing Institute. Finally, we attended the first in a series of three APPG online events designed to inform aspects of the National AI Strategy being developed by Government. The topic was ‘the ethical, safe and trustworthy development of responsible AI’. As a result, we have produced a paper on that topic as well: Ethics and Regulation of AI. We’ve also been invited to attend the next two events in the series.

So as you can see that has, and is, taking up a lot of time, but exactly the sort of things Probably42 is designed to contribute to.

June Discussion

At a much more day-to-day level, our June discussion was on the topic of Inflation and you can see the output at Inflation - Should we be worried?

Forthcoming July Discussion

Our discussion for July is on the topic of Adversarial Politics - How could we tackle Adversarial Politics with a different but more effective system? This should stretch our minds a bit! Answers on a postcard please.

You can see the proposed agenda at Topic for July 2021 - Adversarial Politics. As ever, do send any thoughts on this topic as input to the meeting, or if you would like to attend the meeting just reply to this email and we’ll send you details.
