Welcome to our January Newsletter!

Progress

Looking back for a moment to last year, we had a very successful year, producing a range of new ‘Considered Proposals’ and starting to achieve interactions on a number of fronts with Parliamentary groups and Think Tanks. As a result we also input proposals to the Office of Artificial Intelligence.

Over Christmas and New Year we brought a number of our key documents up to date with the further ideas generated in 2021, most notably our Considered Document on Transforming our Democracy and Political System for the 21st Century and our overall Manifesto of Ideas A Manifesto for Society in the AI Future. We’ve input the former to the Think Tank Demos as part of a response on their own articles about reforming the democratic system and we’ve input the Manifesto to the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Artificial Intelligence, who we’ve had an on-going dialogue with.

We would like to encourage all members of Probably42 to take a look at these documents, as they are the foundation of what we hope to focus on this year. At the very least do click on the link to take a look at our 2-pager Manifesto Overview explaining what’s in the Manifesto of Ideas and giving some examples of our proposals.

Output of November Discussion

Government Information that may interest you

As usual we highlight three more examples of information on Parliament activity and outputs which may interest you:

Forthcoming Discussion

Our discussion for January is ‘The Draft Online Safety Bill’. You can see the proposed agenda at: Topic for January 2022 - Online Safety. As ever, do send any thoughts on this topic as input to the meeting, or if you would like to attend the meeting just reply to this email and we’ll send you details.

Why not join a Group?

If you’d like to join one of the Probably42 discussion groups held via videoconferencing, just email in response to this newsletter and we’ll send you more details. We very much want a diversity of viewpoints, so you can be sure your views will be welcomed. Remember it’s about relaxed discussion and having an enjoyable time, with hopefully some useful ideas identified.

We also want to encourage face-to-face real world discussion groups, as feeders into the main online discussions. If you’d like to find out more about the one in Berkshire, or if you’d like to see one start in your area, just email in response to this newsletter and we’ll send you details.

Feedback

We always welcome any feedback, thoughts, ideas or questions about Probably42. Simply reply to this newsletter and you’ll receive a personal reply.

All the best

Tony
